1. BACKGROUND
1.1 Paragraph 18 of the IMO Instruments Implementation Code (Resolution A.1070(28)) requires flag states, inter alia, to issue technical instructions to Recognized Organizations
(RO) regarding the conduct of delegated inspection, survey and certification services delegated to the RO.
1.2 Annex 1 to this Shipping Notice contains the technical instructions to Recognized Organizations for Cayman Islands ships.
1.3 The Cayman Islands has appointed the following Recognized Organizations –
• American Bureau of Shipping;
• Bureau Veritas;
• DNV;
• Lloyd’s Register;
• Class NK; and
• RINA.
1.4 This Shipping Notice should be read in conjunction with SN 02/2020 “Guidance and Instruction on Arrangements to the Satisfaction of the Administration”.
