Anyone can report an accident or incident involving a Cayman Islands ship to the Maritime Authority. In certain circumstances, the master and owner of a Cayman Islands ship MUST report accidents to the Maritime Authority by the quickest possible means. This is so the Maritime Authority can decide whether to investigate the accident and prevents evidence being lost or decaying. Accidents and incidents that must be reported to the Maritime Authority are given in Shipping Notice 02/2015.
