Global Director - Operations
Philip A. Barnes is a native Caymanian, born in the district of George Town, Grand Cayman. He has served in a number of senior governance roles within both the public and private sectors of the Cayman Islands. His appointments have included Chairman of the Cayman Islands Maritime Authority, Deputy Chairman of the National Housing Development Trust, and Director of Caribbean Utilities Company Ltd., a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Mr. Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Accounting and is a retired Certified Public Accountant. He completed his professional training and articles with PriceWaterhouse, Cayman, where he acquired extensive experience in accounting and auditing. He subsequently developed significant expertise as a financial accounting manager within the Cayman Islands’ offshore financial services industry.
He oversees the Authority’s Operations Division with responsibility for the Finance and Accounting, Information Technology, and Administration sections.
Mr. Barnes is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is a Notary Public in and for the Cayman Islands.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Barnes is actively engaged in community and civic service. His charitable involvement includes service with the Lions Club of Grand Cayman. His civic duties have included serving as Returning Officer for the Cayman Islands General Elections in the George Town South Electoral District, and as Funding Director of the Cayman Islands Scouts Association.
