Expression of Interest Manager, Business Development and Technical Support, Americas and Caribbean Region

The Cayman Registry, a division of Cayman Maritime, was established in 1903 and today the Register covers the full spectrum of vessel types, including commercial ships and private pleasure yachts.  The Registry maintains headquarters in the Cayman Islands and a European Regional Office in Southampton, UK, with global representation in the USA, UK, Italy, France, Netherlands, Monaco, Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands (MACI) is currently seeking applications for suitably qualified companies/individuals to undertake services on behalf of the Cayman Islands Government as Manager, Business Development and Technical Support, Americas and Caribbean Region.  Ideally this position would suit those companies/individuals who reside in in Fort Lauderdale, South Florida but are prepared to travel to other global locations as necessary. Reporting directly to the Regional Director Americas and as part of a dynamic team the post holder will actively support the business development activities in the Region and provide technical support in connection with these activities. This will include liaison with Americas based clientele in support of the Authority’s Business Development Schedule.

Predominantly the services provided will include:

  • Business Development in support of the Business Development Schedule.
  • Technical queries support.
  • Attendance at networking/development events in accordance with the MACI Business Development Schedule.
  • Support with Flag State investigation.
  • Registration activities support.
  • Provide training in the Americas region - Registration, Crew Compliance, Technical.
  • Special Projects Additional Functions.
  • MACI Consultancy program expansion.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

To perform this job effectively the post holder must have a proven track record in a similar position and satisfy the following minimum requirements:

  • University Degree in Maritime (Business) Studies, or Maritime Law or Equivalent;
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in the Maritime Industry dealing directly with clients and industry stakeholders;
  • Applicants who have held roles in yacht or ship management houses would be preferred;

In addition, the post holder must have:

  1. Sound knowledge of the workings of the Maritime Industry in respect to registration, ship operations and management company functions;
  2. Be familiar with the interrelationship of National Administrations & Classification Societies and the functions of Port State Control MoU’s, , the IMO, and other Regulatory Bodies;
  3. Be familiar with Classification Society Rules and Regulations for Ships;
  4. Be with familiar with  International Conventions as they relate to the Marine Sector including but not limited to those from the IMO/ILO including the relevant Codes & Instruments;
  5. Sound language, analytical, presentation and IT skills;
  6. Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations;
  7. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and
  8. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
