LAW AND PROCEDURES MANUALS (AVAILABLE IN ELECTRONIC COPY ONLY)

Under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended (STCW), masters and senior officers serving at management level are required to have an appropriate knowledge of the Laws and Administrative Procedures (LAP) relative to the flag of the ship in which they serve. The Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands (MACI) has instituted a LAP test for Masters and senior officers intending to serve on Cayman Islands ships to demonstrate this knowledge. See the LAP home page here LAP Examination System.  This Manual* is designed to provide the information that will be required for officers to prepare for and pass the LAP test.

The Laws and Administrative Procedures Manual* is also essential reading for managers and shipowners of Cayman Islands Ships and other interested parties so that they can ensure they are fully aware of the LAP requirements specific to Cayman Islands Ships.

The Manual should be read in conjunction with the relevant Cayman Islands maritime legislation (Laws and Regulations) and associated Codes, Circulars and Shipping Notices.
