The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry (CISR), a division of the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands, is pleased to welcome to its Register the impressive 4.35 million-cubic-foot wood chip carrier Crystal Pioneer, built for Mitsui OSK Lines. Sanoyas Hishino Meisho delivered the vessel on 30th Oct. at its Mizushima Works and Shipyard in Japan.

The Crystal Pioneer is a flush deck/aft engine vessel which has six cargo holds in the center, with living quarters for its crew complement of 28, and the engine room situated in the rear section of the craft. It is equipped with a chip unloader of 975-ton/hour capacity and also a shuttle conveyor at the bow to discharge woodchips to onshore facilities.

The ship was brought on to the Cayman Register by the CISR Representative for Japan, Mr. Yoshinori Uno, who has been very instrumental in attracting a number of huge vessels to the Cayman maritime flag over the last several years that he has worked for the organisation.
