Educational Achievements At MACI
The Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands (MACI), parent organisation of the historic 100+ year-old Cayman Islands Shipping Registry (CISR), believes in doing as much as possible to encourage the educational advancement of its employees, according to MACI's Head, Human Resources & Administration (Designate), Mrs. Glenda Dilbert-Davis.
In addition to offering scholarships in maritime industry studies, MACI also does everything it can to assist staff members in furthering their educational opportunities, from assisting financially to allowing time off for study.
As a result of these initiatives, a number of individuals were recently recognised at a staff appreciation dinner held at Luca restaurant. They are:
- Shawanna Hera, Maritime Officer, Crew Compliance, who completed her Bachelor of Science in Management from UCCI in June;
- Katrina Pona, Senior Client Service Officer, Crew Compliance, who, in July of last year, received her Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from UCCI;
- David Mitchell, Client Service Officer, Crew Compliance, who earned an Associate of Arts degree in Social Studies, in June, also from UCCI, and,
- Jenna-Dell Humphrey-Terry, Coordinator, Administration Services, who, also in June, received her Certificate in Management Practice from UCCI.
"The maritime industry, which for so long has played a vital role in the history and culture of the Cayman Islands, provides a world of opportunity for the young people of the Cayman Islands," says Mrs. Dilbert-Davis, "and these academic achievements are proof of MACI's commitment to educational advancement and/or training and the professional development of our staff."
