Cayman Delegation Attends Posidonia '08 In Greece
Posidonia was held 3 - 6 June; a VIP opening on the evening of the 2nd of June, saw the Greek Minister of Mercantile Marine, Mr. George A. Voulgarakis, and his entourage paying a courtesy call on the Cayman Shipping Registry's booth, greeting the CISR's Greek representative, Dimitris L. Thomas, of Athenian Shipbrokers, and his sister, Georgia, both of whom organised the staging of the CISR's impressive wood-panelled display booth.
Over the course of the next several days the Cayman booth attracted hundreds of individuals eager to learn more about the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry and the myriad advantages to having a Cayman-registered vessel. Cayman, through the United Kingdom, is a Category 1 Red Ensign Register, meaning it can register vessels of any size or type, from supertankers to mega-yachts. In fact, the CISR is the world's leader in the registration of mega-yachts.
"Attendance at Posidonia, the Colossus of shipping industry events, is imperative," explains MACI CEO Joel Walton. "It's where everyone who is anyone in the shipping industry is, and to not be there would indicate a complete lack of seriousness in this vitally important global industry." This is the fourth time the CISR has had a physical presence at Posidonia, and the Registry looks forward to participating once again in Posidonia 2010.
Additionally, the Shipping Registry, in partnership with Appleby's, represented by Mr. Bruce Putterill, and Athenian Shipbrokers, hosted an elegant rooftop poolside reception for about 200 people atop the Athens Marriott Hotel, with a view of the illuminated Parthenon atop the Acropolis.
