Published 23rd January 2009, 12:59pm

GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman - The global headquarters of the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry (CISR), a division of the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands, will be closed Monday, 26 January, which is celebrated as Heroes' Day in the Cayman Islands. This year the day will spotlight the women of Cayman, who strived to bring suffrage rights to the female population of this British Overseas Territory some 50 years ago.

The Cayman holiday will not affect the CISR's other geographic locations offering maritime customer services - Ft. Lauderdale, Southampton, London, Monaco (expected to open in February, 2009), Athens, Singapore and Tokyo, which will continue to offer 24/7 coverage to its valued clients.

The George Town office of CISR will reopen for business as usual on Tuesday, 27 January, at 8:30 a.m.

Additionally, the Hong Kong office will be closed for Chinese Lunar New Year holidays 26 - 28 January, inclusive. Routine (i.e. non-urgent) enquiries will be dealt with after the office opens again on 29th Jan., and phones will be monitored to cover any urgent client matters.

The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry offers a broad range of customer services, including Registration, Survey and Certification, Crew Compliance, Vessel Plan Approval, Vessel Construction Supervision and Maritime Consultancy.
