Annual Tonnage Fee4

(a) For ships of less than 87,500 gross tonnage5:

4. Where, at the discretion of the Authority or otherwise, an Annual Tonnage Fee is refunded, in whole or in part, a service charge of $123 will be applied.

5. Where a ship of 87,500 gross tonnage or more does not meet the criteria set out in paragraph (c) then the Annual Tonnage Fee is to be calculated in accordance with paragraph (a).

6. The initial Fee will be pro-rated on a monthly basis for commercial ships of over 250 gross tonnage from the month of registration to the end of December for ships coming on to the Register after 31 January.

7. The Fee due for that part of a ship’s tonnage which is not an exact multiple of 100 will be calculated on a pro-rated basis to the nearest ton.

 

(b) Reduced Fees for ships of 87,500 gross tonnage or greater which meet the criteria set out in paragraph (c):

(c) Criteria to be met for ships of 87,500 gross tonnage or more under paragraph (b)-

  1. The ship is to be not more than 5 years old from the date of original build at the time of registration in the Cayman Islands;
  2. The ship is to be able to meet the requirements for it to be brought under the Cayman Islands Alternative Compliance Scheme (ACS) (See Shipping Notice No. [02/09] [CISR website] for full detail of the ACS); and
  3. The ship is to meet all other registration and operational requirements and standards applicable to it.
