The actual Registration Forms and Supporting Documentation required to be submitted and the Fees paid will of course vary, depending upon the particular transaction being carried-out.
- A vessel owner (or joint-owners) may appoint an agent (authorised party) to act on their behalf.
- For all vessels (Pleasure Yachts in Private Use, or Commercial Vessels i.e., Commercial Yachts and Merchant Ships) the relevant Forms, Supporting Documentation and Fees must be submitted. Submission can be made, in the case of an individual Owner, either direct by the Owner or through his Authorised Person, and in all other cases submission is made through the Authorised Person, other than for the Name request/reservation (CISR 854) which can also be made by a Representative Person or by other parties such as shipyards, particularly in the case of new-build yachts.
- All Forms and Supporting Documentation may be provided either in paper form or in faxed form to 1-345-946-7822. If provided in faxed form then these must be accompanied by an Undertaking (see Form CISR 856, Section 6 (III)) to deliver the originals/certified hard copies to Head Office within 7 days of the date of receipt of the faxed version.
- Cayman also provides online access to information through the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry Virtual Office Environment (CISR VOE) web-based client service system. To subscribe to this system please email client.relatioships@cishipping.com for sign-up information.
- Cayman also provides document depository locations other than Head Office to facilitate mortgage document registration and priority notice recording.
- The notarisation of signatures and the like may be done before a Registrar of British Ships (like the Cayman Registrar of Shipping), a Justice of the Peace, or a Notary Public.
- When deciding whether or not to Flag Cayman the owner has the option to either contact a Cayman Islands Private Sector Maritime Services Provider or to contact our Client Relationships Manager at the dedicated fax line for Registration matters 1-345-946-7822, mobile 1-345-525-4281, direct work 1-345-244-1666 or email client.relationships@cishipping.com to deal directly with Cayman in the interim initial stages, whilst retaining the option to use a service provider as and when needed.
