Contact

For questions regarding yacht construction contact the Survey section.

From the initial project meeting to final delivery, Cayman will appoint a dedicated surveyor/auditor with specialist knowledge of yacht construction and of the applicable regulatory standards. The appointed surveyor will act as a focal point for the duration of the build and can provide assistance and guidance on all aspects relating to the construction of the vessel, with particular emphasis on the requirements of the Large Commercial Yacht Codes (LY1 and LY2), but often in regard to other requirements such as the MARPOL Convention.

A fundamental part of the process is our ability and preparedness to assist in developing solutions that allow the vessel to be constructed in accordance with the applicable safety standards, whilst still maintaining the owner’s design aspirations. This flexibility also provides the shipyard with realistic, achievable and, above all, cost-effective means to address the regulatory requirements for large yachts.

Cayman offers 5 categories of services (within these include vessel plan review and approval and vessel design and construction advice):

  1. Survey and advisory services to builders during the construction of new-build yachts to the requirements of the Large Commercial Yacht Codes and other applicable regulations for vessels to be Cayman-registered
  2. Survey and advisory services to builders of new yachts, irrespective of the planned flag of registry
  3. Advisory services to designers and consultants in respect of the Large Commercial Yacht Codes and other applicable regulations
  4. Advisory services to owner’s (and the owners’ representatives) during the construction of new yachts, and throughout the life of the vessel, if Cayman-registered
  5. Advisory and inspection of existing yachts with a view to obtaining retrospective compliance with the Large Commercial Yacht Codes.
