Appointment of an Authorised Person
An “Authorised Person” is by virtue of this appointment authorised to complete, sign and submit the Declaration of Ownership for a company/body corporate, individual or joint owners and all other forms and supporting documentation submitted to Cayman in relation to the vessel. The individual /joint-owners must use this form if they wish to appoint an Authorised Person to act on their behalf. Note, however, that where there is an individual owner or joint-owners (individuals) that are resident in the Cayman Islands, then these parties may act on their own behalf.
In cases where the ship is owned by a company/body corporate then the form must have the seal of that company/body corporate affixed, or if this is not possible, the signature on the form should be witnessed by a Notary Public or the equivalent under the relevant jurisdiction.
In cases of individual or joint-owners then the form must be signed by the owner or joint-owners, as the case may be, and notarised. In the case of joint ownership, however, the joint-owners may appoint by “Power of Attorney” one person to act on their collective behalf, as an alternative. In such cases, a copy of the Power of Attorney must also be provided to Cayman as evidence of this agreement. The Authorised Person may or may not be resident on-Island and a company or a shipping entity may appoint more than one Authorised Person.
